BOOK OF DREAMS

The Book of Dreams is an experimental project to develop a collection of the most interesting, provocative, inspirational or informative dreams—a survey of dreams' unique view of life. One aspect of this project is to create a dream "thesaurus," a series of dream collections focused about several important or recurring dream symbols. As an initial attempt in this direction, a collection of dreams concerning fish is presented below.

 

I go outside to a beach for a short swim. The waters are slightly turbulent. There are rumors of sharks nearby, perhaps already in these waters. I decide not to go into the water after all. The people fishing are aware of these rumors, but they are willing to take the risk. Just then, a young fisherman snags a fish and some of the others gather around to help him reel it in. It turns out to be an ancient fish hundreds of feet long. Soon all the others give up their own fishing to bring this great fish to shore. They form a line and each of them holds one section of the long fish in his arms.  The  fish   does  not   resist.   Yet   it  has   the appearance  of   an   ancient  sea
