all had entered the workshop included sinusitis. One improved
"markedly," one improved "somewhat," and three did not
notice any change. No one reported worsening. Other areas
that changed included an awareness of the helpfulness of
dreams, a need to emphasize balanced living and personal
ideals, and an increase in energy associated with a decrease in
the need for sleep. Dream recall doubled in three individuals,
from approximately two per week to four per week; two
participants noted a slight decrease. The ability to interpret
dreams meaningfully "improved markedly" in three persons
and "improved somewhat" in two.
It is worth noting that the individual with severe, chronic sinusitis, who described a direct relationship between sinusitis and her Scorpio husband, is the same individual who noticed a marked improvement in symptoms. She also noted an increase in energy, a doubling in the number of dreams recalled per week, and a marked improvement in her ability to interpret her dreams. Discussion: Chronic sinusitis, according to the perspective of the Edgar Cayce readings, is an illness of many causes. It seems to relate to allergies and thus may be associated with an inherited disposition, i.e., karmic conditions. The physiologic mediator is the autonomic nervous system, which may also be the storehouse of memories of the subconscious mind. The subconscious refers to the stored memories of past events and situations, motivating much of our "consciousness" and appearing in dreams as symbols or masks to be uncovered. The superconscious refers to the Higher Being drawing us to perfection, presenting itself as flashes of insight or precognition. However, the concept of Oneness supersedes all the divisions of the mind that we make. The communicator seems to be the mindthe decision maker as to how the life forces will be used. The physical condition represents the result of these activities. It is helpful to recognize that healing at any level will be beneficial to the whole, as healing vibrations will reverberate throughout the entire individual. Therefore, the priority of attention needs to be placed on the most important parts of a person's life: Who am I? Where am I going? These are the first questions to deal with before moving on. It is with these concepts in mind that we approached this study of disease and dreams. Dreams are classified by the Cayce readings into three categories: those relating to the superconscious mind or higher self, those relating to the subconscious mind, and those relating to the physical body.
