her room. She could fly backwards as fast as forwards. She was no larger than Papa’s thumb, but was much more beautiful. She had beautiful golden wings. She wore such a small dress, smaller than a doll’s dress and much prettier. It looked like it was made of angel hair. Her hair was long and wispy. She wore the tiniest golden slippers. She also carried a very small, white sack on her back and a magic wand in her hand.

She took her magic wand and touched the edge of Kathy’s pillow. The edge of the pillow came up and there was the tiny tooth. She set her sack down and then touched it with her magic wand. Out flew a very shiny dime. It landed right beside Kathy’s tooth. Then she touched Kathy’s tooth with her magic wand and it flew right into her sack.

Then the fairy said, "Kathy, I shall touch you with my magic wand. You will then be able to fly away with me. Then you can see why we needed your tooth. Would you like that?"

"Oh, yes," said Kathy.

Some were taking the teeth out of the bags and some had large brushes and were cleaning the teeth. Some had polishing cloths and were polishing the teeth. Others were painting over the decayed spots on the teeth.

The tooth fairy told Kathy, "The decayed teeth are the hardest to fix up. It is really too bad that children do not take better care of their teeth."

Kathy also saw a stack of shiny, new dimes. A little fairy was putting them into little sacks. Then she saw a whole stack of nice, shiny teeth. There were little fairies putting them into little white sacks.

Kathy said, "Little fairy, why are they putting the shiny teeth into those sacks and flying away with them?"

The little fairy said, "I will show you."

She then picked up one of the full little white sacks and said, "Come, Kathy, fly with me."

They flew back to Kathy’s house and into baby brother’s room. There was John asleep in his crib. The tooth fairy took her magic wand, touched her little white sack with the shiny tooth in it, and out flew the tooth right into John’s mouth. John then had his first new tooth. Kathy was so surprised.

The  tooth  fairy  then  flew  into  Kathy’s  room  with  her,
