to the six-year-old dream in which I tumbled out of my own forehead. I
knew that my dream series had envisioned for me the power to create
myself as I want to be.
For several years, I had been following the mythical direction of Athena on the subconscious level. On that level I had worked it out to the point that I am now able to see and understand it on the conscious level of my being. Occasionally in the past, I had glimpsed its meaning for me, but now I know its meaning more fully. My experience with that series of dreams leads me to believe that sometimes we do not understand our dreams simply because not enough time has passed. Such passage of time includes other dreams that clarify or expand the original dream, new experiences in life, new information and the basic process of maturation. When sufficient time has passed, one small bit of information or a "random" observation may pull together for us a complete flash of understanding of dreams long past and of trends long developing in our lives. Such understanding illuminates the past and lights the path for us in subsequent decisions and directions we choose for ourselves. 196
