what is wrong. He tells me it’s because a refined lady (the partner) had said, "There are no good Negro artists. If they appear to do all right, they are either starving or stealing!" (Now that the program was started in spite of the partner, she was belittling it.) In the dream the artist (Nancy) is upset because he is afraid he might meet this lady, lose his temper and hurt her (Nancy was fighting her temper not to argue with her partner.) We get to his room and there are chartreuse bugs on his floor. (Nancy is being "bugged" and in some ways doesn’t understand—floor—her partner.) I try to kill the bugs, but my shoes (understanding) are too small. (Dream’s prognosis and promise:) A large man comes into the room behind me (to back her up). He stomps on the bugs with his big shoes.

The big man proved to be the boss in charge between the partners and Daisy, the department supervisor. He supported Nancy with regard to her partner, other co-workers and Daisy. He stomped out all opposition and indifference that was bugging Nancy.

Nancy’s program grew, became strong, and Nancy happily refined the details. It became an accepted part of the job, which not only made Nancy happier with her working conditions but it greatly benefited the co-workers in her department.

Dream 4: My partner and I get on a large ship. I have a strong baby boy. We are taking a bath (cleansing) together. Baby wants me to wash him. I lather him all over and rinse him (clears up details in the program). He is so strong he stands up in the tub, but holds on tight while I wash him. I get him a clean T-shirt. It has a thin, red stripe (only a little anger showing now) between wide, green stripes (green is the color of growth). It is New Year’s Eve (new beginning) and the boat owner, who is my boss, is having a party. There are many commercial decorations on the boat. A fellow worker says, "Original decorations (creative productions) are much nicer than commercial ones." As I watch, the commercial decorations become originals. One of the co-workers is admiring one which I have made.

From then on, it was clear sailing for Nancy’s project. It was her "baby," and she watched as the fresh idea took hold and grew. Her co-workers accepted and appreciated the originality of her plan. What a difference from the early days when she had to fight to give the plan a chance and her only friend had been her dreams.
