It should be pointed out that each spiritual
center is
not simply an endocrine gland, but
involves the nerve
plexus and other organs immediately adjacent to it. For
example, consider the thymus gland, represented
by the
fourth church: This center also
involves the cardiac
nerve plexus, the heart and the lungs. This center may
be
referred to as the heart center or heart chakra
because
its function traditionally relates to love. This tradition is
supported by the section of the
Revelation that names
love as the virtue of the fourth church and fornication as
its fault. Since it encompasses
the lungs, the fourth
center can also be referred to as the air center,
tying it
in with the four elements.
The relationships
presented in this chart can
be
thought of as archetypal in the sense
that they reveal a
profound relationship common to
all men between
certain images and symbols on the one hand
and bodily
structures, physiological processes and emotions on the
other. If we can accept this theory we may
have a most
useful and highly complex
chart of hypotheses for
entering into the dream. Optimum use of
the chart can
be achieved by undertaking
a thorough study of the
Revelation and Edgar Cayce's interpretation
of it. A
flexible imagination is also needed in order to relate the
key words on the chart to a wider range of associations,
to extend the chart's applicability into the area of human
psychology in general.
As an illustration of how
the above chart may be used
as a source of hypotheses for entering the dream, let
us
