Sundance
motif in a different
manner. The result
was the painting, "May Day," and the following story:
Once
upon a long time ago, there was a
magical
merry-go-round. Twelve people who knew
its secret
would gather around it, each grasping a handle,
and
begin to run as fast as
they could. At the
right
moment, they would jump onto the whirling
gig and
allow the rush of the centrifugal force to spin
each of
them into their own vision of how they might
live life
more abundantly. As the merry-go-round twirled,
its
center shaft drilled deep into the earth,
striking oil.
Out of the top of the center shaft there then burst forth
a bouquet of twelve different
flowers. When the
merry-go-round stopped, the
people awoke from
their dreams. Each person recognized
one of the
flowers, swallowed its crystalline
seed, and left to
spread its fruit around the world.
Since
I had "made up" the story, I couldn't help but feel
that it must be somewhat contrived. I'm sharing
it with
