Dear Journal:
I've benefited a great deal from
continued use of the
"Dream Realization" meditations I first encountered
as a
participant in the A.R.E. Dream Research Project.
I had
always loved poetry but thought I couldn't write it myself.
Since practicing the meditations for inspirational writing,
however, I have filled several tablets with
dreams and
poetry. What amazes me is that the
poetry no longer
limits itself to dream interpretations but now often
also
comes following meditation, or while I sit watching
the
flow of the Susquehanna from our home. Here is one:
My Backyard
Cathedral
I
have my own Cathedral
Right at my back door.
Anyone can join me there
Whether they're rich or poor,
Because it didn't cost a penny
For the riches that are stored,
And there isn't any preacher
So I know you won't get bored.
The towering trees stand with
courage,
Green leaves their essence share,
Food for the soul and body
A tonic beyond compare.
The green grass sends up healing
From the dew when feet are bare,
But most of all, I love the altar,
I must tell you what is there.
It's a smoothly flowing river
That goes and doesn't cease,
And it seems to hold the secret
Of a majestic, calming peace.
The choir needs no practice
For the songbird always sings.
The congregation never gossips
Because it's nature's little things.
Once in a while we're honored
With Sister Bear or Brother Deer,
A Bishop is never more exciting
Than
when these friends appear.
