result of  generations  of  unresolved, collective Shadow
build—up.  The collective  Ego is now  a t a  stage where
elaborate  safeguards against  the holocaust must be built
and  maintained,  including  a vast  network of diplomatic
lies. And we can see  how  this drains  more and  more of
the  resources  of every kingdom,  threatening  to kill the
collective "I" in a very real and horrible way.
     I  am  not trying  to solve the world problem. I suggest
only  that  just as an  individual's  dreams and works point
to the  nature  and source  of global problems,  so it must
be that ultimate solutions will come  at least in part from
the promise and work of individual dreams.

Summary

     We  see  then that recognizing  one's capacity for evil
is   essential.   It   is   also  essential  to  recognize  one's
powerlessness  to  face it  from  a completely conscious
position    alone.  Once   recognized   and   admitted,  the
dreamer being  repentant  must  love his  enemy side and
be absolved of his sins.
     It is  this final step  of absolution by the Self,  beyond
the   control   of   the  dreamer,  that  fully   redeems  the
complex,   brings   peace,   and   allows   the  dreamer  to
continue with a normal life.
     One   more  thought  seems  needed.  In resolving this
situation,  the  dreamer   has  gone  through  an  initiation
and  passed  to  a realm  of greater consciousness. As we
know,  initiations  imply  not only  rights, but  also  some
responsibilities.  We can see,  therefore,  that the ending
of   the  dream  presents   more   than   just   a   moral.   It
emphasizes the point that once something has been made
conscious, the dreamer is forever after responsible for it.
