so that they could  all  be done with a single,  past dream,
and  thus  also  suggested   how  to  find  many  levels  of
problem solving activity in the same dream.
The    theme    of    the    first   meditation    was   the
identification  of  a  personal  concern which emerged in
the  first  week  of  dreams.  Writing  exercises included
using  key  words from  the dream  material  to compose
self-reflective     sentences,    formulating    a    question
concerning  a  problem area,  and  relating  personal  life
values to this concern. The task for the subsequent week
was  to  apply  and  test  those  values  in  relation  to  the
designated question.
The   theme   of   the   second   meditation   was   the
formulation of a tentative diagnosis of the value conflict
that   might   be  contributing   to  the  problem.  Writing
exercises included creating  titles  for the dreams of the
past  week  and  using them  as  allegorical  statements to
lead to the expression of insights about the nature of any
conflict  of  values.   Also  included  was  an  exercise  in
assuming the role of a troubling image from a dream and
allowing this image  to write its own statement about the
nature of the conflict. The task for the ensuing week was
to  find ways  of  practicing  self-acceptance concerning
the  contradictory  values  discovered,  in  the  hope  that
new possibilities of resolution would arise.
The theme of the third meditation was  the search for
creative  solutions   to   the   problem  within  the  dream
material  itself.   Writing  exercises  included   a  written
dialogue  with  the  dreamer's higher  Self,  rewriting and
extending dream material according to inspirations from
this higher Self,  and  formulating  a tentative solution to
the conflict  along  the  lines suggested  by working with
the dreams.  The  task  for  the  ensuing  week was to test
out the proposed solution.
The theme  of the final meditation was the evaluation
of the problem-solving activity  that  had been attempted.
Writing  exercises  included  collecting  various  images
from previous dreams,  creating  a  story  setting  around
the theme of the problem,  and having  a written dialogue
with a dream character concerning  the  pros and cons of
the attempted solution. The meditation concluded with a
